Virtual Consultation Room

The Chat Clinic provides treatment for psychological problems within a virtual consultation room that you get access to once you have registered. Services available include:

  • Instant Messaging (typing only, like on MSN, Facebook, etc)
  • Video Conference (with a webcam, like on Skype)
  • Voice over Internet Protocol (phone via computer)
  • Web Journal (submit 1,000 words each week for analysis)
  • Email (communicate with therapist sporadically to allow time to process thoughts)

In the future this service may be available through Skype or a custom built mobile app for your smart phone or through your television. We may also offer you an avatar within a virtual world if you prefer this to the face to face sessions. Process

The steps required to achieve positive and sustainable changes through The Chat Clinic are:

  1. Complete online questionnaire
  2. The Chat Clinic will suggest appointment times and request payment
  3. Login for initial consultation with Consultant Psychiatrist - IM only until you choose to switch to VC
  4. Your Consultant Psychiatrist will recommended the best TCC Practitioner depending on your needs
  5. Choose regular appointment days/times and make payment
  6. Login (usually weekly) for 50 min sessions with your TCC Practitioner
  7. Consultant Psychiatrist monitors progress with you and your TCC Practitioner with a review sessions if needed
  8. Your TCC Practitioner will advise when they think you've made sustainable positive changes but the final decision about concluding therapy is yours

Only three people will have access to your information: your Consultant Psychiatrist, your TCC Practitioner and you.

You are never obliged to continue therapy and can easily cancel this online if you are not happy.  We also encourage you to take some time after the first consultation to decide whether you are comfortable with your TCC Practitioners and the process.

Therapies

There are many different kinds of therapy and your TCC Practitioner will explain which methods they believe will suit your needs.  However, the final decision rests with the client and if you disagree with any part of the treatment you can contact your consultant psychiatrist or the Clinic Director for The Chat Clinic.
